From The Kitchen: December Menu

Our new December menu is out and we decided to show it to you in a new, easy to read format:

Vegetarian:

  • Cincinnati Tofu Chili with Cheddar Cheese
  • Spaghetti Squash with Tofurkey over Polenta
  • Green Curry and Coconut Mung Beans
  • Sweet Potato and Broccoli Noodle Bowl
  • Broccoli and Swiss Cheese Quiche

  • Pinto and Lima Bean Soup with Pepitas

Chicken:

  • Fricase de Pollo with Potatoes
  • Roast Chicken with Butternut Squash

Place your order by midnight on Tuesday for pick-up or delivery on Thursday or stop by our kitchen (M-F 10-6:30, Sat 10-2) to shop for your favorites from our freezer.


In The Spotlight: "There With Care" Angel Tree
Help us and There With Care help families and children facing critical illness.

Please consider either making a contribution online or buying a meal or gift certificate for a family from the Angel Tree in our storefront kitchen while you're shopping.

We will also be accepting any canned or non-perishable food donations (as well as toys) at our kitchen for "There with Care."

We will be donating 10% of all proceeds raised through meals and gift certificates purchased for them, along with our usually monthly meal donation.


In The Spotlight: Holiday Hours
We will be closing on Thursday the 24th at 3pm through Saturday the 26th and will re-open for normal business hours on Monday, December 28th.

We will also be closing on Thursday, December 31rst at 3pm and re-opening on Saturday, January 2nd at 10am for normal business hours.

Hassle Free Holiday Parties - 101
Not all of us can plan, cook, and execute a holiday party. And not all of us can afford to have it catered.

Our meals are tasty, healthy, affordable, and convenient for a casual (think crockpot meals) or elegant (think Blue Cheese and Fig Stuffed Pork) holiday party or potluck.

Trying to go hassle free? Pick up a couple hummus dips and a couple crock pot meals for the easiest way to have your friends/family over. You still get to cook, but it's awesome to have no stress, no mess, and a delicious meal.

We (Toby and Beckie) routinely use these meals to cook for 8 or more guests with less than 1 hour prep time.


Cooking Tip
How do we cook our vegetable side dishes at home?

We cook 'em straight from frozen, usually with a little water, covered on medium high heat for ~ 5-7 minutes.

When they're almost done, we uncover the pot, turn the heat to high and cook off or drain off any excess liquid.

At that point we usually add a little high heat cooking oil (i.e. safflower oil), butter, something acidic (fresh lemon/lime juice or balsamic vinegar), sea salt, black pepper, crushed red pepper flakes and maybe even a little tamari (soy sauce). Yum!
