In the Spotlight: Mother's Day Meal Winners
During the middle of April we announced a contest where you could tell us why you mom, wife, sister, daughter, or friend rocks as a mom. We picked the nomination we liked best and two random entries and awarded each of them a free meal for Mother's Day.
Congratulations to Kristen/Lisa (our favorite entry), Claire and Melody and a big thank you to everyone for participating in our contest. Below are the three winning entries:
Kristen - I'd like to tell you about an amazing mom. Her name is Lisa. She's just given birth to a little boy. He is very little, 2lbs at birth. Although he's still in the hospital, he's doing well. This is Lisa's third child. The first one is a wonderful little 3-year old. The second one died a few months after her birth and she was born early as well. I'm also a mother of one little boy, 3 years old too. I cannot imagine the hardship of loosing an infant. I know the prayers are pouring out of Lisa and her family right now as her new little boy starts his very delicate life.
Claire - My mom is a great cook. Growing up, she never had the patience to teach me how to cook, but I learned how to appreciate a good meal from her cooking. Her mother was from Italy, and never taught her how to cook either! I guess we all learned because we have the Italian cooking gene.
We always had salad after our meals, in the European tradition. When I became a vegetarian in college, my mom started researching vegetarian recipes and making them for me. She never complained about it. She even got me a subscription to a vegetarian magazine!
Over the years I have been trying to learn the secrets of my mom's cooking. I'm the youngest of six, and kind of the odd person out in my family. There isn't much my mother and I have in common, except for our love of food and cooking. I know I will always have something to talk to her about when it comes to fine cuisine.
Melody - My mom is Hellen. My dad just passed away this past Monday-the 13th of April. She is so sad and we are all trying to think of ways to make her feel special and loved.
