In The Spotlight: Compostable Boxes!
We are proud to announce that we will replace our 64-ounce Bio-Pak™ boxes with compostable and biodegradable Bagasse™ boxes over the next several weeks.

These new boxes are made 100% from sugarcane fibers (a readily renewable resource) left after the extraction of juice from the sugarcane and they biodegrade (i.e. break down) in as little as 30 days in a commercial composting facility, and within 90 days in a home composting system. If you don’t compost, feel free to return the boxes to us, and we’ll do it for you!

We think this is great, and, according to the findings from our recent customer survey (see below), so do you. So, keep your eyes open for these new, more earth–friendly meal boxes.


From The Kitchen
At the end of every month we make more of the most popular meals before the recipes switch to the new menu.

This month we still have: Shrimp Cashew Stirfry, Tofu Cashew Stirfry, Greek Pizza, Rosemary Chicken with Grape Glaze, Rosemary Tempeh with Grape Glaze, Crockpot Dijon Chicken, Crockpot Sweet Potatoes, Lemon Dijon Flank Steak, Green Olive & Almond Penne, Green Olive & Almond Penne with Chicken, and Black Bean Corn Stew with Chicken.

While these meals are no longer available online, you can pick them up by dropping by our kitchen at 2690 28th Street or order them over the phone (303–440–3828). Get ’em before they’re gone!


Customer Survey Report
First the important stuff: thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the survey, and congratulations to Carol Premji who won the drawing for two free meals!

By and large the survey confirmed many things we knew, but it also opened our eyes to things we didn’t know. Here is a quick snapshot:

  • 70% of you said we should look for a new location somewhere with easy access and parking.
  • 70% of you feel the design of our packaging is not important, but an overwhelming majority (92%) pointed out that the eco-impact of the packaging is either important or very important. We couldn’t agree more, and that’s why we are switching our boxes to bagasse™ (see "In The Spotlight" above).
  • Only slightly more than half of you said that our cooking instructions are very good and almost 10% said they need improvement. We’ll try to do better. Please help us understand what you are looking for by continuing to give us specific feedback. What’s the right balance between too much information and not enough?
  • Much to our surprise, 2/3rds of you thought we should EXCLUDE vegetables and offer them as side dishes instead. Right now we are limited by freezer space, but look for more veggies when we move to our own location.
  • More than 80% of you said you would be interested in picking up fresh salads with your order. Hmm – food for thought.
  • Almost 75% said you wouldn’t be interested in receiving email or SMS reminders to take a meal out of the freezer, so we won’t devote any resources to it at this point.
  • Your favorite colors are green and purple, with blue taking second place, and Red third. But, here’ts what’s really interesting: EVERYBODY who listed Red as their favorite color, capitalized the first letter, and NOBODY who listed any other color capitalized their color.
New Menu
Today is your last opportunity to order meals for pick-up this week (don’t forget to use the coupon from our customer survey, it expires on November 4th).

The November menu features 13 recipes – a nice mix of stews and crockpot meals, recipes with fruit and berries from the harvest, quiches, and some of our personal favorites.


We’re Taking A (Short) Break
After a very rewarding 8 months of non-stop work we’re taking a short vacation after the Farmers’ market ends this Saturday. You can still order online and pick up as usual*, but our kitchen will be closed for grab ’n go orders.

Our hours next week will be:

Monday: CLOSED
Tuesday: CLOSED
Wednesday: CLOSED
Thursday: 10 AM – 6 PM
Friday: 10 AM – 6 PM
Monday (11/12): CLOSED
Tuesday (11/13): CLOSED

*Delivery will not be available next week.


Did You Know?
We work with local farmers and producers like: Wisdom’s Chicken, Red Wagon Farms, Full Circle Farms, Justin’s Nut Butters, and Pasta Bozza, just to name a few!

Why Didn’t We Think Of That?
Several customers have asked us to put ingredient lists for each recipe online and on the box. We read the labels of everything we eat, so now that you mention it, that makes complete sense. Look for ingredient lists starting with the December menu.
