Toby’s Background
Although my family can trace its farming heritage in Germany back to the 12th century (!), it all ended with the 2nd World War, and I never experienced any of it. But, as a passionate adventurer and endurance athlete (I have been lucky to climb and ski extensively in Europe, Canada, and the US, and to be a competitive x-country skier, mountain biker, and adventure racer), I’ve always paid attention to what I eat.
I first knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur when my strawberry stand (at my elementary school’s summer fair) turned into a financial success. Since then I have built a number of companies, including Steamboat Powder Cats and Swift Shot Imaging. Along the way I have learned what it takes to get a business from A to B, and – eventually – all the way to Z.
I earned a B.A. in English Literature from Mc Gill University in Canada, an M.A. in Wilderness Risk Management from the University of Northern Colorado, and an MBA in Entrepreneurship from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
