We get what we promote – Have a “zero waste” party
We had a get together at our house on Sunday to celebrate the beginning of Spring and the upcoming Farmers Market. About 40-50 friends, family, and neighbors dropped by throughout the day.
Not only was it super easy to prepare for using our dinner kits, but it was also a zero waste shindig. We put out recycling cans for aluminum, bottles, and paperboard. We had compost for any waste including compostable cups (corn), utensils (potato starch), napkins, and plates/bowls (sugarcane). There was absolutely no trash – it was very cool. We also have a “zero waste” kitchen at The Organic Dish and Eco-Cycle makes it a very smooth process to be a business that is trying to do better for the environment.
In the Boulder area you can get your zero waste party stuff at Eco-Cycle (http://www.ecocycle.org). Eco-Cycle’s Zero Waste Event Kit provides everything you need to make your gathering Zero Waste. Simply place your order online, choosing the number and types of materials you’ll need for your party, pick up your materials at Eco-Cycle’s CHaRM, host your successful event, and deliver your compostable materials back to the CHaRM and recycle your recyclables at your curb or the nearest drop-off center.
