Arugula, Spinach, Mizuna – oh my!
Another cold and rainy morning at The Boulder Farmers Market today, but lots of people showing up. We know so many vendors and farmers make their money at the market. Let’s pray for some nice spring rain M-F, but give them a nice warm day on Saturdays so they can try and “bring home the bacon” and not catch pneumonia!
The greens are coming in now. We picked up the first pickings of Arugula from Oxford Gardens. We both really dig Arugula and wrap it up in Salami and call them “Arugula Bombs”, well – because they are the bomb! Delicious and addicting.
Mizuna also made an appearance at Jay Hill Farm. This green is originally from Japan, has deeply cut toothed leaves and is great in salads. Super yummy and not as “strong tasting” as Arugula. We mix it with other greens – it’s one of my favorites right now. Mix some toasted sesame oil, rice vinegar, a touch of ground ginger, a touch of honey, sea salt and pepper for a nice dressing.
And spinach was everywhere – check out Red Wagon Farms. Their spinach doesn’t look like anything at the grocery store. You are basically “eating health” when you eat their spinach. Saute it down, add a little bacon, salt, pepper, and balsamic for a great side.
Have a great weekend!

We also picked up a H-U-G-E bag of granola from Fiona’s Granola and a bucket of goat feta cheese from Haystack Mountain Dairy.
