Money buys happiness, love, and time, right?

The consumerism and materialistic things in life get to me this time of year.

We sell healthy, simple, delicious and nutritious food.  We love what we do.  Our home-cooked meals give you time with your family and provide a well balanced and delicious dinner.  However, I have a hard time at The Organic Dish promoting our gift certificates as the “perfect holiday gift” (although they are a great gift, ahem!).

A good friend of mine died unexpectedly~ 4 months ago.  She was 40.  Her passing is a constant reminder that time flies quickly and not much else matters except love, happiness, and time with those that bring you both of those.  There is “no time to spare” – don’t hesitate to tell people what they mean to you.

The holidays are coming closer, and I have this collective cultural stress when I see people freaking out about how many gifts they did or did not give (or get).  Maybe it’s time to re-evaluate what Christmas and the holidays mean to you.  Perhaps it’s time to say no to gift giving or drastically reduce gift giving.  Spend more time with the people you love – that’s all that matters in the end.

Happy Holidays!
