Each month we offer a new selection of 12 or more organic dishes to choose from, including 4–7 vegetarian meals. Almost all of our meals can be modified to accommodate a variety of dietary restrictions (i.e. no gluten, no dairy, etc.).
We rarely repeat any item more than twice per year unless there is particularly high customer demand.
We offer fun and hassle-free culinary adventures. The dishes each month incorporate a range of cuisines and ingredients. We also combine a variety of cooking styles utilizing your oven, range, grill (you will still be able to pan-fry the recipe if you don’t have a grill), stock pot and crock-pot (slow cooker). At The Organic Dish you can try dishes based on cultures from around the world and from right here in Colorado without having to buy several different spices or ingredients just to make one dish.
Each regular organic dinner serves 2 to 3 people (depending on individual appetites) and weighs between 2.5 and 3 Lbs., and each large organic dinner serves 4 to 6 people.
No. But the majority of our meals can easily be refrigerated (or frozen) after cooking and re-heated in a microwave – that way our regular meals (2-3 servings) can take care of dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow for one person.
Yes. We offer at least 4–7 vegetarian meals each month.
Yes. Only a few of our organic vegetarian meals contain dairy products (we usually prefer olive oil and soy-based products), and the ones that do can often be made without to accommodate a vegan diet.
Yes. All of our rice is whole grain, and we have whole grain pasta, couscous, and bread available on request.
No. Our meals are generally about 95% organic. There are some ingredients that are either not available organically (e.g. salt, honey, wild-caught seafood), or we cannot find a cost effective and reliable source (e.g. mirin – Japanese cooking wine).
In order to offer the freshest, best tasting and most humanely raised meat, we are sourcing our beef and pork from small, local, hormone and antibiotic free (but not certified organic) producers. We buy our beef from Meyer Beef (they bought Coleman™ Natural Beef), our pork from Long Family Farms in Eaton, Colorado, and some of our poultry from Petaluma in California.
If one of our dinners contains non-organic ingredients (other than beef, pork, poultry, or seafood), they will be clearly indicated in orange on our monthly menu.
We use only organic chicken from Petaluma, but use Meyer Beef and local, hormone and antibiotic free pork from Long Family Farms.
We use wild caught fish in all of our recipes. While this adds some cost to our fish dishes, we believe it is the right choice to make for our health and the health of our environment.
Yes. While some of our organic meals are one-pot meals and do not need side dishes (stews, soups, etc.), other meals are not complete unless they are paired with just the right side dish. For example, most of our organic dinners include a starch (rice, potato, pasta, etc.) and a vegetable, such as carrots, corn, kale, spinach or broccoli.
In addition, we offer a variety of vegetarian side dishes each month that you can add to your order.
Our organic meals can be kept frozen for 5 months.
No. Do not microwave the Ziploc™ bags or corn containers. We recommend letting your meals defrost in your refrigerator. If you want to speed up the process, we suggest using a cold water bath – just put the Ziploc™ bags in a large bowl in your sink with cold water circulating/flowing around them for about 30 minutes.
Yes. We have a registered dietician analyze each of our recipes. The nutritional information is based on individual servings (unless otherwise stated). For example, if one meal was divided into 6 equal portions, the nutritional information would be correct for one portion.

We do not specifically offer "low-carb" meals. But if you are trying to decrease your carbohydrate intake, you can review the nutritional information on our monthly menu and choose meals which are either lower in carbohydrates or can be easily modified by making small substitutions or by omitting some of the higher carbohydrate ingredients.
We do not specifically offer "low-fat" meals. But we use low and non-fat ingredients where we can without compromising taste. But if you are watching your fat intake, you can review the nutritional information on our monthly menu, and choose meals which are either lower in fat or can be easily modified by making small substitutions or by omitting some of the fattier ingredients.
Yes. If you take a look at our monthly menu, you’ll see that many of our organic meals are naturally gluten free
, and some others can be made gluten free
with simple substitutions (rice pasta for regular pasta, rice for couscous). We offer very few meals that cannot be made gluten free
. Please take a look at the nutritional information and ingredients of the menu items on of our current monthly menu and don’t hesitate to contact us to review recipe ingredients over the phone (1-800-408-5905) or email.
In general, we can make more substitutions when you place a pick-up order than when you come to our kitchen for grab n’ go meals.
Your (and your family’s) health and safety are of the utmost importance to us. We work hard to address the concerns of customers with food allergies and other health issues. We encourage you to take a look at the nutritional information and ingredients of the menu items on of our current monthly menu. In addition, we can also review recipe ingredients over the phone (1-800-408-5905) or online. However, given the close proximity of our work stations, it is impossible for us to guarantee that cross-contamination of products will not occur. Therefore we must ultimately leave it up to you to determine whether our organic meals and the environment in which they are prepared will work for you.
No. We do not use preservatives in our organic dinners, but there may be a small number of prepared ingredients (i.e. condiments, sauces, soup stock, etc.) used in our recipes which may contain preservatives or monosodium glutamate (MSG).
If you have concerns regarding preservatives or MSG please contact us online or call us at 1-800-408-5905 prior to ordering, and we will review each meal’s ingredients with you. This will give you the information you need to decide which meals you should select.
